Town Supervisors Win!

Great wins for Republican Town Supervisors - John Sweeney-Somerset, Wright Ellis -Cambria and Richard Lang in Royalton. All were running against the County Republican machine headed by Henry Wojtaszek. Enough voters in each district realized that voting for a candidate loyal to the voters and not Henry was important.

Unfortunately, many voters were still votng for the Wotjtazek candidates not realizing the danger it was putting their Towns in. The former Town Supervisros letter warned voters that the Wojtaszek/Maziarz machine was harmful to Niagara county and luckily enough informed voters took the letter seriously.

But this is only the first leg of the political race this year the final is on November 6th. As a county we can only hope that all voters realize the need to vote for candidates loyal to the taxpayers and not the Wojtaszek/Maziarz political machine.

In Somerset, Voters will still have a chance to vote for Dick Ray on the Working Families party line to insure the Wojtaszek?/Maziarz sponsored candidates do not take over the town.

Both John Sweeney and Randy Wayner will have both the Republican and Democratic lines available. The Better choice for Somerset is to still vote for Sweeney, Wayner and Ray.

For myself, ( Merrill Bender) there was a good turn out for the Legisaltive race in the 18th district. In Somerset and Newfane we had over 1100 voters which was almost double the turn out of any other County legisaltive race. I lost the Republican line but will still be on the Democratic line and the Working families Party line on November 6th.

John Syracuse's campaign estimated they would get 90% of the vote after their negaitve ad campaign. he only got 66% as the incumbent Republican.

I am hopeful that John Syracuse will veto any ads he does not approve of and not allow a repeat of the libelous ads sent out against me on his behalf and paid for by Henry Wojtaszek and te county Republican party.

I will continue to stick to the issues of lower and fair taxation, AES, Mount View, poor economic performance in the County and the need for IDA reform.
